for those ranges on whitetails are the scirrocos really necessary??? they're kinda expensive. i looked at them for my 06 but for deer they were pricey. maybe for longer ranges or larger animals.

I have used this bullet almost exclusively in my .270 Ackley Improved for the past three years. With all the late season and dispersal hunts out here, thatadds upto 7 elk killed - at ranges from 75 yards to475 yards. It is, without question, the best elk bullet I have used in 34 years of elk hunting with the .270. Proabably not necessary for deer hunting, as almost all 130 grain bullets are designed with deer in mind - but I'm sure they will kill deer very efficiently as well.

In my opinion they are too much bullet for deer. Got a buck few years ago with my 7mm (.284" vs. .277" for 270).
