Ithica Model 37 Deluxe
My friend just gat a ITHICA model 37 deluxe chambered in 2 3/4 in and I was wondering if anyone has or has had one of these shotguns. How much are they worth and how do they perform? Any information would be very helpful.

They made more than one model with the deluxe name on it . You would need to be more specific rather than just deluxe . 37D/Deluxe ,37DV/Deluxe ,Super Deluxe Deerslayer ,37 RD Deluxe just to name a few .

I have an Ithaca model 37,with a solid ribbed barrel, that use to be my dads. He bought it in 1955 and has had many thousand rds through it. Its easy to load, especially in cold waterfowl season, when your fingers are cold. Love the bottom feed and ejectiion. Its got fewer moving parts than ANY shotgun, hence less chance for malfunction.Wouldn,t take anthing for it. To bad about the company folding there doors. Its a great loss to all involved. vangunsmith

An 37D was my first shotgun and still have it although it doesn't get used much anymore. I have two barrels a 30 full and a 28 mod. Used that gun for 8 years and then discovered O/U's and never looked back. I used the 37 served me well until I switched. I was able to dump triples on waterfowl on 5 different occassions with it

I really liked the old 37's except for one thing. If you reloaded your own ammo, you had to "full re-size" the hulls or they would stick in the magazine tube. That ment a whole extra trip through a "spl. sizer" you had to buy extra. Also when i was a kid there were a lot of paper shells around, and many times they would swell a bit and have the same problem with sticking in the magazine tube.
I think on later 37's they machined a bit more room to fix this, but it's what got me to buy a Rem. 870 instead of a new Ithica back then.
As quite a young kid, ishot my first rooster pheasantwith the model 37 featherweight that my dadowned at that time.

RE: Ithica Model 37 Deluxe
back in the early 80's i bought my dad a model 37 feather weight deluxe for chrismas one year. i believe i paid $ 400.00 for it. man what a nice gun the deluxe has the high gloss wood with a 3D pheasant in the but stock. the bird is gold with a red back ground. also the side plates have hunting scenes engraved on them. i finally used his gun one day and ended up buying my self one. ours have the modified barrels with a 28 length. the only thing is that it is to nice to carry so it stays in the cabinet. between myself and my brothers family we have five of the 37's and no one has had any trouble with them. great guns
