The only other deer rifle i own right now is a marlin 30-30. Its a good gun for 100 yard shots, but anything over that i'm just not that trusting of it. I am really considering going with the 30-06 but am not 100% sure yet.

There is no way that you can go wrong with a 30-06. If you were only going to hunt deer, I would lean toward the 270 -280 or 25-06. However the 30-06 would have you equiped for anything in North America. I use the 30-06 a lot and have for 50 years, it is however more than a guy ever needs for deer.

I think i am just about set on the 30-06. Don't remember if i said it or not but i'm going with the Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker. I know everyone is going to have a diffrent opinion on this but what is catridge to go with in the 06. I was looking at ballistics and Hornady light magnums in the 150 grain has(what i think is good anyways) good ballistic readings. What do you think is a good bullet?
