i was shooting federal .22 #12birdshot shells today out of my 10/22. first they didnt have enough recoil to cycle the action but that didnt really bother me. i shot about 20 of these rounds with no problem then shot about 50 rounds of federal stinger. when i started shooting the birdshot again the casing was getting stuck in the bore after i shot it. i had to pry it out iwth a knife. i happened to look down the barrel and notice that these birshots were making my barrel filthy. anyone know that the problem could be? im gonna clean it tonight and try again tommorow.

My best guess would be the chamber is getting dirty or something and they are haning up. Never messed with them though. I used to shoot shorts quite a bit though and never had any problems.

Quit shooting bird shot down the bore of a good 10-22 rifle. That stuff is best left to old single shots and revolvers.
Clean the gun snd shoot standard 22 rimfire lead ammo through it.

With the mixture of carbon, and the lube film on 22lr bullets makes a gummy substance. Then your #12 birdshot stick to it like fly paper. These type shells were orginally designed for revolvers and really not meant to use in guns such as yours. Not saying you can,t but why? They don,t shoot any distance anyway. As far as im concerned they are a waste of time and money. Your choice. So, thats what causes your problem. vangunsmith
