Gloss with blue finish rifle; matte with matte finish rifle. Good luck.

For a gloss barrel I would go with the gloss scope, but like on my stainless barrel I think the matte looks best!

could never underdstand why matte costs more than gloss. i would just get the gloss then throw a camo cover over it like a grizzly scope cover to keep it from scratching.

lo are you talking about the "Beartooth scopecovers"? They basically are neoprene covers that use velcro fitting between rings and have sewn in stretch nylon for fitment on each end?

I am trying to find ALL sources for such a scopecover to put on an heirloom that I am gonna take afield on occasion this fall,

I don't like gloss. Give me Matte every time.

It depends, do you want a gun to show off or one to use in the woods? If you are more concerned with looks, go with gloss, shiny guns look nice on the wall and at the range, but if you want to take it in the woods the matte will not get scratched as easily, but more importantly it will not reflect light like a gloss scope, which could potentially spook your game.

All my older scopes are gloss. The newer one's are either Matte Black or Matte Silver for the S/S rifles.Any of them work for me I just like the Matte finishes better.

beartooth is the name DOH! not grizzly. i would save the 40$ and get the gloss. i have those covers as well as the butler creek flip open caps on all my guns.
