lo are you talking about the "Beartooth scopecovers"? They basically are neoprene covers that use velcro fitting between rings and have sewn in stretch nylon for fitment on each end?
I am trying to find ALL sources for such a scopecover to put on an heirloom that I am gonna take afield on occasion this fall,

It depends, do you want a gun to show off or one to use in the woods? If you are more concerned with looks, go with gloss, shiny guns look nice on the wall and at the range, but if you want to take it in the woods the matte will not get scratched as easily, but more importantly it will not reflect light like a gloss scope, which could potentially spook your game.

All my older scopes are gloss.The newer one's are either Matte Black or Matte Silver for the S/S rifles.Any of them work for me I just like the Matte finishes better.
