I gotta agree with Virginia7. the regular 270 win (i had one) is descent enough. In fact, if you snag one in the weatherby vanguard, you can get a 24 inch barrell and tack on a few extra FPS. Whats better, you can use the hornady light mag ammo and start closing the gap between the 270WSM and the vanilla 270. The plain 270 ammo is $11.87 for a box "O" 20 at wally world. WSM? 18 bucks a box at a gun store. EJ

Man I wouldnt ever not reccomend the .270 win with the luck I have had with it. Killed deer with it from 5 yards to over 300. Far as guns go...lol..I am not that familiar with all the choices that are out there..I usually stick to a 700 of some sort due to the accuracy they always give me.

Thanks everyone. I got out and started looking at the guns at the local gun shop. Model 70 FW is the choice, sharp looking gun. Caliber 270. Thanks again for your posts. Leupold vxiii scope on top. Happy hunting...Fall is almost here.

You wont be sorry. That is an awesome gun. I have the model 70 classic stainless in 30-06. My next gun will either be a fwt .243 or .270.
With a nice gun like that i would look into shooting 140gr Failsafes sold in the Winchester Supreme line.
or if you handload go with a NP.
