308 Normal Magnum
#1
I have the opportunity to buy a 308 Norma Magnum built on a 1903 Springfield action. I understand that the 308 is basically a 30/338. I also realize that bullets and brass are scare. Can anyone tell me anything else about it or what they know personally about the caliber.

I had one of these back in the 70's that was built on a Mauser 98 action. Once you acquire a quanitiy of brass, it won't be any big problem to reload. Dies are still readily available.Uses standard belted magnum shell holders and regular .308 bullets. The caliber is inherently accurate and has a good case design. I would grab up that gun if the price was right. But it would need to be priced about $100 below the same gun in a .300 Win Mag to compensate for the availability of brass and factory ammo issues.
