Now that everyone has quit going after each other, lets actually talk guns again.

Anybody have one? I was looking at it, and its basically a bolt action with a lever. What do you guys think. I have always said, if you want a lever, get a Marlin. It seems to have a rotating 3 lug bolt for lockup, removable mag. Totally different than a Marlin or winchester. I am kinda leaning to if you want a BLR, go ahead and get a bolt, if you want a lever, get a marlin.

Well, BC I've had a BLR .358 for 12yrs now and won't
sell or trade it for nothing. I also have a A-bolt in .338.
To each his own, I quess.

Do you think its possible to get subMOA out of them? I figure with its lock up it should. I still haven't got submoa out of my marlins but never thought I could.

BLR's are definetly a great lever gun. Like you said they use a rotating bolt head. This is actually a better design than the Marlin or Winchester as it locks from the front of the bolt rather than having a locking block rise up in the rear of the bolt. This type of locking system can withstand much higher chamber pressures and more "extreme" cartridges than the typical cartridges that lever guns use. Such as the WSM family of cartridges. It is also inherently a more accurate design than the others.

They also use a very smooth gear driven lever system to cycle the bolt. Very few moving parts inside the gun when compared to the other levers out there. However if you take one apart you must make sure you get the gears put back together right or the gun won't work.

I had one quite a few years ago in 7mm08. It was a good shooter with factory loads but mine had trouble with reloads. When I approached factory load velocities I would get real sticky extraction. I finally gave up on it but had I been happy with factory loads, I would still have it.

I was just reading about them in Rifle mag, and it interested me. I have always looked at the lockup on my marlin and thought, "that could be improved to say the least". Wonder why the BLR isn't more popular?

Probably because when people think about Browning they think about the A-bolt and their shotguns. Browning also only makes two versions of the BLR right now. A lot of chamberings but only two different rifles. One with a pistol grip and one with a straight grip.

Oh, and they cost about 1.5 - 2 times as much as a Marlin.

''truly an awsomerifle'' thats what i got to say about the blr.I hunt with a couple of friends that both have blr chambered in 308 win and they love them.

I have one in .308 and will not give it up for anything. Fantastic rifle, consistantly shoots right on the 1 inch mark for 3 shot groups.
