Seems to be a good gun. I see they just brought out a new model of the 5-7. Looks sharp. They are kind of pricey though. I looked at one last year. Only reason I didn't like it was it didn't fit my hand right. Good luck

yea i havnt held one yet. I am goin to the gun shop tomorrow and hold one to see how it fits. I made some calls a few minutes ago and found out that the AMMO has to be ordered, none local carries it in stock. This could prove to be a problem but MAN its a sharp looking pistol.

You mean the FN Five seviN or however the like to spell it?
I have seen it but not sure where you would get ammo for it.
I believe its main audience for sale was G-men. Not really meant for civilian hands I think. More to penetrate bullet proof vests, low/no recoil. They really don't push it for regular folks like us. I wouldn't want it for home protection for carry. No knockdown. Just meant to subdue someone.

My inclination is that the FN Five-Seven 5.7x28mm pistol is mainly meant to be given to tank crews and such where even a submachine gun takes up to much space. It uses the same bullet as the P-90 submachine gun and i am not sure on this one but may be an official NATO round at the moment or is on its way to be. It launches its bullet at around 2100 fps so it has alot more range than the 9mm. Its advantage over the 9mm is that it can take down targets at much farther distances because of its higher muzzle velocity. I would not recommend getting one unless you are just getting it to play around with and if thats the case id get it. I think as of now they only offer FMJ military ammo for it so it has almost no self defense uses. The last gun show i went to, i saw a few for sale at around 900 bucks.

i just want it to fk off with. put me a nice m6 or burris tact-lite on it and roll out in the woods. The local sho can order HPs for it so it should have some knockdown effects. They say the FMJ ammo will just got straight threw the game, it will run till it bleeds out. comes with 3/20rd mags, 4/50rd boxes of ammo. cost $897.00 only 2 guns i have ever bought cost more than this one, My 50cal Desert Eagle ($1167.84) and my Kimber Tactical II ($987.54) amazing how pistols cost SO MUCH MORE than your average rifle

I would like to have one but can't afford it or the ammo.
As to ammo, Hornady is coming out with this round on the market with the VMax bullet in it. Would be ideal for defense. Rapid expansion, lot's of energy.
http://www.sidearmor.com has a holster for the gun, they make top notch holsters. http://www.natchezss.com has ammo for it, dies for it and soon to have brass for reloading.

Seems like a toy to me. It's a pretty interesting little pistol, but it serves no real purpose in the civilian market. I doubt many of us will every get into a gun fight at 200 yards, so I'll stick with my larger caliber pistols and hit them hard up close.

velocity is no help at hitting. The control of the trigger and the sight alignment are the limiting factors, not the ammo. No one has ever proven that he can reliably hit a man's 10" chest circle, beyond 25m, while he was actually under fire. Either they got lucky with one shot, or they fired many times, missed the chest with more than half of their shots, and thus, PROVED that the chest hits were pure luck. 50-50 hit ratio is just like getting heads in a coin toss. Pure luck.
Not only that, but you can get a 55 gr bullet going 2100 fps in a 5" 9mm, so why would you pay those ridiculous prices for the 5.7 ammo, hmm?
