RE: $2000 to spend, but which rifle???

I'll bet Beretta Customer Service will let you do that. I don't understand the medium rings. On my 7STW 75 I purchased low rings for it and they were a bit high for any 40mm scope..you could have easily put a 44mm or 50mm scope on it.
Old, I tried that. They wouldn't and won't. Cause my 50mm scope is barely off the barrel.

hay how about one of those single-shot 50 calibers. they run about $1950.00 and they kick about like a .243. then you can start making those long shots. you could shoot an elk 3/4 of a mile away as some of these guys would say.:):):):)

BC. I remembered you had posted about your problem with that nice silver scope. I have enough clearance that I have my flip up cap on mine without any problems.

trailer, hasn't been a problem yet. Just a concern. But sounds as if they are low rings. Got it off OEH. I thought they were Med.

This depends a lot of exactly what you're going to use it for. But personally, if it were my $2000, I'd spend around $700 for a Rem 700, then get a high quality scope like Swarvoski, and with the left-over money get a harris bipod and then do some customizing. You can turn that rifle into a tack-driving machine, with a little work, and modifications. And the most important aspect to the gun to me would be my pride in customizing and modifiying a gun to reach the highest potential it can reach. Good luck!

Ok what kind of Swarovski 869-1500 and what mods would you do to a 700 so it can shoot like a Sako . I'm having a 700 customized right now and with barrel and stock will spend right at 1500 dollars. I am hoping it can shoot 5 under an 1"

Go with a 3x10x42 swarovski and you will have a very bright yet lightweight scope. As far as the rifle is concerned, have the action trued, add a match grade barrel and have it pillar bedded into a mcmillan stock.Add a shilen trigger and you should have no problems shooting sub MOA groups with proper loads.

SJ...here is what I am basing it on:
Remington action or rifle 450 avg
Barrel job and blueprinting 500 avg
Mcmillan stock or similiar 450 avg
Swarovski A series 869
