There was a guy about 10 minutes from where I live went out driving his truck out on a lake. Little did he know the ice wasnt thick enough and fell through. Well he had his window open and managed to jump on his hood and get out. But remember to check the ice when going out. Good thing he is still alive today.

I fell through the ice when I was 14 yrs. old. Out ice fishing about 1 mile away from my house and took the plunge. Scary stuff it's like somebody is constantly zapping you with one of those tazer things. Panic sets in immediately and there's nothing you can do about it. My brother was able to pull me out. Nice refreshing snowmobile ride home. Stayed at the hospital and treated for hypothermia. Havent' been Ice Fishing since.

I went through when i was 16, was on the way across the river to camp for the weekend, had an axe with me, checked the ice every 50 feet, it was 6 inches thick, unfortunially i stepped into an air pocket that was covered with snow, went 10 ft to the bottem but managed to come back up in the same hole. took me three tries before i could get back up on the ice, fortunally the backroad was only 300 yards away and a car came by and picked me up just as i hit the road. it was 40 below zero at the time. got my rear chewed out for losing the axe, go figure that. Fortunately I have gone through the ice where it was shallow. Actually there was no water. It was on a reservoir and I believe the water level was dropped after the ice formed. But my dumb ass went through 3 times in one day. But was question is, why would you purposely fall into a frozen body of water?
