I like them all, but would rate perch and/or walleye as #1, with bluegill and crappie next. Of course, channel cat also tastes great. Like I said, I like them all. I guess the best tasting fish is the one I can catch.

My first choice is Walleye Northern and Perch. can,t pick just one of those so whichever I have is fine. Next is Channel cat. Then Rainbow trout. Crappie is my least favorite but I like them too. Never cooked a fish I didn,t like.

Many of you have included perch in your lists. I think white perch is the best tasting but have never tried yellow perch as I was always told growing up that they were a "scum" fish that tasted bad. Is there a significant difference in taste?
The lake I grew up next to was loaded with both but as we ALWAYS threw back our yellows they seemed more plentiful. They were more a nuisance fish for us as we really wanted the whites and/or bass. I remember one afternoon catching over 30 yellows, 12 whites and 5 bass. I threw back 3 eels as well. That was back when I pretty much used earthworms all the time. That was a good day of fishing.
Anyone eat freshwater eel? I tried some eel at a fish and chips shop in England that tasted great but have no idea what type of eel it was. Very bright, clean white meat.
