Default 2004 Sturgeon Spearing Season

The Wisconsin Sturgeon Spearing on Lake Winnebago closed as of 12:30 this afternoon after the quota for female fish was taken. The season was only open for 2 days and ideal conditions allowed for a record opening day harvest.

Personally, I speared a 54.5", 40 lb. female that had a DNR tag in its fin. Kind of like shooting a tagged duck.

The new record for Lake Winnebago was taken Saturday with 77", 188lb fish speared on the southwest side of the lake.

It was a real slaughterhouse out there this season. I took my fish in at 1:00 saturday afternoon and waited in line untill 3:30 to register it.

I will post a pic of the fish as soon as it is developed!
