Default Fouth day of striking out ..

I struck out again today..and this is weird..When fish are off I could always rig up a couple of Carolina rigs and drift and get at least one fish...

While I was leaving the lake I ran into a black man..Here's the conversation..

Fred...How they biting?

C7..I aint had a bite in 4 outings.

Fred..yes sir the cold got em..remember them real cold days..my friend called me up and said the shoreline had hundreds of fish that were in shock...just dazing around. My friend and I got a dip net and filled a 50 gallon trash can with the shocked fish..2 of them were two ten pound bass. They are in our freezers..

c7.. } -:

.................................................. ...........................

In a local paper our biggest lake Lake Hand**** lost 90% of the tilapia fish ..putting many commercial fishermen out of jobs.

I've talked to some pros out there as well..they are saying the same thing..they are not getting any bites..not sure what the scoop is..if they are just waiting for the next new moon to bed..or if there are many bass left from the extreme Florida cold weather we've had this year..I generally strike out once a year..so far I've struck out 4 out of 10 times this year..My wife is shocked when I tell her I hadn't had a bite..I use my top secret easy catch lures..{ Which I can't share LOL } ..nothing...and this lure ticks all my opponents off. ..it's that good..my local tackle shops don't sell them..

Lakes can be weird...up the road from here Tenoroc had one 50.00 lake..which a man can catch fish ALL day..{ Catch and release} HOWEVER..After Hurricane Charlie came through...the lake is now free...the fish can't be caught...

They had another one for fly rod only..stocked with huge monsters....no bass have been caught from that lake either..

This was reported last year at a lake 2 miles from my house..} - : and this year we had 3 times that amount die..so fishing may be a bit slow for me this year..

Here's a clip from our local paper from this year concerning Lake HandC O C K ..

Blue tilapia from 1 inch long up to 3 pounds were killed in Lake Han**** and other shallow lakes across Central Florida by the extended cold spell from Jan. 3-13 that also took a heavy toll on saltwater species including thousands of snook.
But Lake Han****, Polk's fourth-largest lake at 4,519 acres and located east of Highland City, suffered by far the most damage with 500 tons of non-native tilapia lost to frigid water temperatures.
"I think it killed probably 95 percent in Han****, the worst I've ever seen it, and I guess probably the worst I've seen anywhere else," said John Thomas Sr. of Eagle Lake, owner of Thomas Fish Co.
"It did a real bad number on them. And that's where a lot of our fish come from. They're really nice, fat fish in there, but it almost wiped them out. It's been completely white with fish for several days," Thomas said.

Summary...I may not do to hot this year on the tournament..

Really sorry to hear that Chuck, especially the part about the fish being carted out in 50 gallon bags. A lake I am relly liking has a group of guys that I have seen 3 times in one week coming out with loaded stringers that could feed 10 men for a week. Hopefully its just a cold snap that has a lof of the fish wacked out for the time being. Maybe after a good long warm spell you will have some luck. Again, sorry to hear that about your waters, nature and man seem to be messing it up bad for you. ;(

Chuck have you tried any of those streamers? They work great for any kind of fish up here. We know cold water fishing up in these parts of the country. We expect the water to be cold for quite a while up here. Fish appear to like the red and white colors during the early part of the season here. I would try a slow troll with one of those streamers with a split shot about a foot or foot and a half above it. Any ways sorry to here about your luck. I was not going to post on this until I am ready to post a fish up for the tourney. I saw where the guy was asking about stocked trout fishing so i decided to respond for a quick minute..
