Default spawning crappie?

About how worm does the water have to be for crappie to start spawning? and about what depth are they in? i heard they are shallow when they are spawning, but i have never found them while they were spawning i checked all the shallow flats but i found nothing. usually i fish for crappie in the summer and winter and not very much in the spring, so i was wondering where they are in the spring, because i just cant find them!

In the spring I usually find them spawning in brush and slightly rocky bottoms in about 4-6 feet of water. Usually if you troll very slow you can see them in the water.

wickman, I like to go for crappies too. I usual;ly find that they are spawning sometime arund the middle to end of May. Now this is here in Wisconsin, and they spawn sooner in the southern part of the state than they do in the north. I usually find them in very shallow water, less than 4' deep around some type of structure, logs, stumps, piers, etc.
