Default changing treble hooks

How much would it effect a crankbait to change the treble hooks to a bigger size. Maybe 1 or 2 sizes bigger or from regular hooks to sureset hooks. will it cause it to swim different?

Actually a lot of the stock treble hooks on crakbaits these days are small and of low quality. I replace a lot of my crankbaits up one size with quality treble hooks.

like IH83 mentioned a lot of off the shelf baits have the worst hooks you can imagine, early spring i throw a lot of lipless crankbaits, the xcaliber xr50 and 75 come with decent hooks, but (and even as much as i like them) bill lewis rattletraps have the sorriest hooks i have ever used on a bait that i have bought, i have looked at some that are even worse, but for the cost i can buy a better all around quality bait with decent hooks, another close second, again love their baits but....its the bill norman DD series, the hooks are pitiful[&o][:@]

if you have a bait you really like (and it catches fish, or at least gets bit) try changing out the hooks with a good quality treble, i like gamma's and x-calibur treble hooks, you can't walk by them W/O getting stuck[:-][:@]

and of those two i prefer the x-calbur, i like the twist of the hook shank, may not make any difference, but i like'em

i thnk i am going to change out most of my hooks but i was using a crank out of the box. it was getting hit like crazy but i had 4 fish jump the hook and didnt land any with it. i wanted to up the size from 8 to 6 and maybe go with vmc sure sets. i may just keep 8s and try different hooks. i really think that the hooks were to small for the fish in the area i was fishing.
