like IH83 mentioned a lot of off the shelf baits have the worst hooks you can imagine, early spring i throw a lot of lipless crankbaits, the xcaliber xr50 and 75 come with decent hooks, but (and even as much as i like them) bill lewis rattletraps have the sorriest hooks i have ever used on a bait that i have bought, i have looked at some that are even worse, but for the cost i can buy a better all around quality bait with decent hooks, another close second, again love their baits but....its the bill norman DD series, the hooks are pitiful[&o][:@]
if you have a bait you really like (and it catches fish, or at least gets bit) try changing out the hooks with a good quality treble, i like gamma's and x-calibur treble hooks, you can't walk by them W/O getting stuck[:-][:@]
and of those two i prefer the x-calbur, i like the twist of the hook shank, may not make any difference, but i like'em
