carp are the nastiest bottom feeders there is just about anything will work. try making your own dough balls. here is a quick recipe. get some oats or wheaies cereal or some crakers some american cheese adn some flour and some bread crush everything up and keep adding flour to u can make a good size ball and it wont fall apart. to test it make a ball and pull it apart if it comes off real real easy more flour and so on. if u put to much flour use some water to soften it up.

Yep, corn or dough balls here as well. We once fished the local river for them intensely. This time of year...right before dark was the best time to have at 'em.

well this is actually a tip for catching cat fish but i'm sure it could work for carp too..take a piece of nylon or some off of pantyhose...about 3-5 inches wide and put some corn in that..like 10-20 pieces or even more..how ever much you can fit.. and then tie the nylon so none comes out...this way it gives it extra smell and unless he takes the whole bag off ur hook you can count on ur bait staying on for a while..also get a bright color...white or you can paint it yellow

I grew up catching carp on the susquahanna and we always used dough balls or corn. We just take bread, get it a little wet and form it into balls. It will stay on the hook pretty good and works well. If you are going to use corn get the cheapest stuff you can find. The cheaper it is the more sugar they put in it to sweeten it. I can't count how many I have caught this way. Good luck.

Nightcrawlers have worked for me stuck to the bottom of the river...
