i think my mod 70 is the post '64 push feed. is this really that inferior to the pre '64 claw extractor action?

I have two Winchester 70's, neither of them are "top of the line" models. One is a Black Shadow 7MM RM, the other is a Lightweight .308, after doing a little trigger work, both shoot 1" groups.
Winchester got a bad knock from the purist's after '64. IMHO, the push feed is just as good as the claw extractor, except for very dangerous game! The claw extractor is something that Remington has NEVER had, and have preformed well over the years without it!
Other than the Savage, you can't get a better gun than Winchester for the money!

I don't own any rem's anymore couldn't get the accuracy I get with the win's. Ruger is heading down the same road with me the last couple i have bought the quality was sub standard. Ive bought alot of mod 70's that supposedly wouldn't shoot, and just checked the center action screw and found it to tight, now they are sub 1" shooters.

oldelk, statistically its possible he could have got a rash of perfect 70's. You and I got all the bad ones, so that improves his statistics of getting good ones.:D
