Um, I don't know, why not go and find out for us. Its a running topic on Blackpowder. Its still up in the air. You ought to call the HQ and complain like I did. Especially since its on the fence about it.

Walmart is a piece of crap, our little girl was 3 yrs old two summers ago and was naked during the summer time, she was always naked during the summer at that age and I had just cut the legs off my sweats to make into shorts so she puts the legs on as leggings and there was a empty beer can sitting on the counter and she grabs it and poses for a picture well we snap a couple pictures thinking ah look how cute she is so I take the pics to walmart to get developed and forgot they were on there and when I get there, theres a cop waiting for me and the dumbass manager. They take me in a room and question me like I was some kind of child pornagrapher. Nothing never came of it but I agree with what one person said, there managers are dumbasses, at least at our store. Just my .02 cents about walmart.

I have to agree with those of you who feel that we should support our local "little guy" gun shops. I won't however pay an extra $100 to do so. If it's a few bucks, I'll spend the xtra, but $100.....Wal*Mart here I come.

I do buy most of my Guns from Scheels All Sports but they are not a little guy in the trade either.
I used to work at Scheels. After that wonderful experience, I'll never buy from there again. I dislike the attitude of some of the salesmen there. Most of them are like, "Hi. I'm so happy to kiss your butt and serve you in any way, shape, or form. Just give me my commission and I'll lick your boots with enthusiasm!" I got into trouble while working at Scheels. Why? I specialized in archery. A rookie came in and wanted the best, fastest, and most expensive bow we had in stock. I wouldn't sell it to him. Instead, I talked him into a cheaper and more forgiving bow. I told him, "Once you feel comfortable with your shooting, come on back and I'll set you up with something a little faster." The guy understood that I just wanted to help him and conceded that I knew what I was doing. However... my manager chewed my ass for doing that! He said, "Hey! I don't care what's best for the guy! I care about you making a high dollar sale!" After that... well, I figured it was time to walk away. I was naive in my youth and thought it would be a cool job.
On the subject of buying guns from Wal-Mart: Their customer support is p*ss poor, bottom line. It takes a month of Sundays to get someone to even show up to open a gun case. You may pay more for a rifle at a small gun shop, but you can tell they appreciate the business. Prices at Wal-Mart ain't that much cheaper, IMO. If you have to drive a ways to a smaller gun shop, I feel it's worth it.

Two recent gun purchases. I went to three gun shops, two couldn't get a model 1895marlin in .450 Marlin in the 30 days I "had to" have it. The third,BassPro in Houston had it on the shelf but, for a $100 bucks more than Wal-mart. I took a signed letter from my local Wal-mart, one of the stores that couldn't get it, with "their" price. BassPro matched the Wal-mart price. I saved 20%. My grandson #2 needed his first gun, grandson #1 received an HR 30-30, grandson #2 wanted a .243 youth model, no sights with scope base. Same three stores, Wal-mart had it in their warehouse and got it to me in time for birthday and saved me 30%. Same guns at all three stores. Hey, when I had my central A/C replaced I shopped around, got the best price for the same brand, saved hundreds. Bought a new van last march, shopped around, same vehicle, saved thousands. Shopped around for the best interest on the loan, saved thousands. Buy American made, when you can find it. That should be the issue. But keep your bucks in YOUR pockets by shopping around.

I use Wally W for fishing terminal tackle because it can be 50% cheaper. Just about all my gun stuff is from a few local shops and I don’t care to even price shop. Two quick stories. Went to Brooklyn Trading Post ( Not NYC) small store always the same knowledgeable fellows to by a scope for my latest Inline BP. To make a long story short the co owner, I think, spent 2 hours putting on the scope in his shop because there was problems. The scope was $100, like to see Wally world do that. Second shop I went to with a stripped BP clean out screw, the gun smith made a better one on a lathe, With BSing he spent an hour and charged me $5, I gave him $10 and he was happy. No Wally World is not for me for the big stuff.

This whole thing about buying from the little guy because it keeps the money local is a load of crap. I bet most of you guys saying this own a gun that was made outside of the U.S.A. To your defense, I understand that the reason you bought it, was because you got the best for your money. Well duh! That is the same reason some of us buy from Walmart. This doesn't make it right. Just like buying something not made in America isn't right. But we do it and it is because we want the best for the cheapest price.
Now to the statements that Walmart's guns are substandard to those bought at your local gun store. That is all talk. All guns that are currently sold at Walmart are the same as everywhere else. With the exception of the Ruger 10/22. The one that Walmart sells is made just for Walmart. To the best of my knowledge, the only thing different is the Walmart gun has a longer barrel.

Here are my thoughts, I buy all my guns from the same store, the same store I buy my seed and fertilizer from, the same store I buy my hunting clothes from, the same store I buy my ammo and scents and atv disc and bushhog mower from. The guy who owns this store is just a bit older than me, has a family, is a deer hunter and land manager. If I go in his store, or even just call him up on the phone, and ask him a question about anything from fertilizer recommendation to scent placement, to a bolt on a treestand, to what bullet works best on elk, he has an answer. You can walk into wally world and they dont even know who makes a 10-22! The owners of wally world have enough money, I'd rather keep the local guy in business who is always there to help me, even if I am not spending money at the time. And, by the way, he keeps his prices competitive with bass-pro and cabelas, but not wally world....if wally world starts selling something he sells, he just quits selling it. He has gotten tired of trying to defend his prices when he buys 100 of an item vs. them buying 100,000 of the same thing. He once tried to sell on eof his own products at wally world, he agreed to sell them the product for 5.00 each, they told him they would sell the item for 9.99. For 3 months, then, it would be reduced to 7.49 for 30 days, then 6.99 then 5.99. That sound ok...right? WRONG! When they mark the product down 1.00, they only pay him 4.00 each, mark it down 3.00....he only gets 2.00! Thats how wally world puts the little guy out of business all in the name of "saving a buck". Just keep this in mind next time you need some hunting gear, have you ever noticed that when you find a super cheap deal at wally world, they usually quit carrying that particular item? The guy who sold it to them can't afford to do business like wally world wants him too.....
