Default gunsmith in MD or central PA???

I apologize if I already asked this.

I am looking for a good gunsmith in the MD or even Central PA.

I want to have the trigger worked on my Ruger.

I know of a good one in Mercersburg, PA (a half hour northwest of Hagerstown). He just worked on a rifle for me last Saturday. Let me know if you want his information and I' ll send you the info in a private message.

If Jimbo is talking about the gunsmith I know of in Mercersburg (about 10 miles from me) he is a good one! Probably is, because I only know of ONE gunsmith in Mercersburg. Doesn' t take forever, and the work is done on the day he promises.

Yes sir. He' s been in business for 55 years and he knows his guns, no doubt about that. S4Bill, just let us know if you need his contact information.

Eldequello, I see that you live in Greencastle. I used to have a summer job in Greencastle at Strait Manufacturing when I was in high school. It' s a nice town...

What does he charge to do a trigger?

In addition, should I have the barrel floated?
I am using my .270 for hunting but we have annual shoot-in contests.....

Is it worth the cost?

Jimbo,
I just noticed that you are in Abingdon.

You travel that far to have work done when you live in Harford County?

A trigger job starts at $30 (shouldn' t be much higher than that, if any) and it' s $40 to float the barrel.
And no, I don' t drive all the way out there just to have my guns worked on My parents live in Clear Spring, MD and that' s where my hunting ground is.

My gunsmith is RA Browns in Westminster. I like him. He is slow as molassas however. Took me 6 months to get a gun rebarred and blued. But he's fair and and his trigger jobs for 700's or M70 is around 50 dollars. And for stuff like that, it usually only takes him 3 days. He spends too much time making stocks. He makes the most beutiful stocks I have seen for varmit rifles. Tell him Mark Childers sent ya.
