Default Tikka T3 lite

Hi all!

I went to the gun shop with my brother in law yesterday, to pick up the Tikka T3 lite rifle he ordered last week. I' m not a fan of synthetic stocks, and to be honest, I wasn' t very familiar with the Tikka name. After handling this rifle, I gotta say, I think I' ll have to put one on my christmas wish list! It' s a great looking rifle! The lines of the gun are sleek and it handles very well. The action is smooth and compact. The safety is easy to find, and operate. The barrel is free floated and this particular model was blued. The feel and balance of the gun was pleasantly surprising. Anybody know if the claim of 1" test groups out of the box is true?
The one he bought yesterday was in the .300 WSM, I think that' s a little heavy for me, but they also produce it in the .308....which would probably be just right for me.

Anyone else have an opinion on them? Before I try to get my wife convinced it' s a MUST have item, I' d like to hear if anyone has one they don' t like......

Yes, the entire line of Tikka rifles have a factory guarentee of 1" MOA out of the box. Should be a great rifle. I have a Tikka Whitetail hunter and I love it except it' s a bit heavy (laminated stock, magnum). Smoothest action I' ve ever seen and awesome trigger. The detachable external box mag. is sweet too.

I doubt you' ll find a better rifle for the price, even used!

Tikka is true to their word. I have two Tikka' s and they were 1" out of the box. If you buy you want to consider investing in a reloading setup. When I started reloading for Tikka' s my groups shrunk considerably. I can shoot a one holer at 100 yrds with my 25/06 and just about as good with 7mm rem. mag.

Good Shooting

With my 7mm Rem Mag I usually get .75" -1" with handloads, sometimes a little better. But I think part of that is me, the rifle probably shoots better than I do.

Field and Stream had a great review from Dave Petzal regarding the new Tikka T3 last month. I am seriously thinking about trading in my Remington 7600 .06 for a new .270 WSM. Oh, and by the way, Tikka is a Sako brand whose parent company is now Berreta. Can' t go wrong with those names or quality!

Hey Power,
I am interesyed in purchasing the same gun you speak of...I think!
The one I am speaking of is the Tikka T3 laminated stainless in .338 cal
I want the extra weight and strength of the lam. stock but the ad says it is a matte- laquered hardwood stock. Is yours a high glosss or dull oil finish?

I checked out a used Tikka at a gun store and loved how smooth the action was on them, but they wanted darn near $500 used. I saw some on gunbroker.com starting at around $450 on up. But that doesn' t include shipping or transfer fee' s through a FFL. You can find an FFL dealer in your area with a link on there sight. I' ve never purchased a gun this way before but might try it next year when it' s time to buy a new gun.
