I bought a Hawkeye recently. It's the stainless/synthetic model and is chambered in 7mm-08. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but have loaded some rounds for it and hopefully will be able to this weekend. For the time being I scoped it with a 4x40 Nikon, but might put something else on it at a later date and put the Nikon back on my muzzleloader.
I'm impressed with this rifle so far just based on the level of fit and finish and how it seems to function. Better than the two Model 77's I previously owned. The trigger is a definite improvement, though I would like to have the pull reduced by about a pound.
Yep, I'm impressed so far, but will have to wait and see how it shoots to form a real opinion.

I have the MKII and I like it a lot. I have a buddy that has the hawkeye and I don't see much of a trigger difference between the two. I have only shot the hawkeye two or three times, though...but I wouldn't hesitate on buying the MKII...really nice gun.

Don't over look the CZ-550. I bought one in 6.5x55. It cost 425 dollars new. CZ rifles come with a great single set trigger. I load 140gr A-Max bullets with 47.5gr of reloader 22 and it will put 3 shots into 5/8" at 100yds. They come with a nicely shaped walnut stock and one of the nicer bluing jobs that I have seen on most rifles coming out of the factories these days. Look them up at cz-usa.com.
