Have any of you ever bought a used gun at a pawn shop? I need an inexpencive, reliable deer rifle. Are there any new guns you would recomend?

I have bought a few that were pretty good guns .There were some in Nevada where I lived that had more guns than the gun stores .They also sold new guns if you wanted to order . It helps if you know what the price should be on used guns . You can get some great deals and you can also get burned ,Good Luck.

Make sure that you know what you are looking for and how much it should cost. I once had to pawn a Ruger 7mm Mag. and didn't have the money to get it back. Anyway I went in after time ran out and they were asking about $75 more than what I had paid for it brand new. You can get good guns at pawn shops but KNOW THE PRICE!!

You might try going to a gun show. There are usually a lot of people walking around with guns to sell. If you are careful, you can get a good deal.

I have bought around 20 guns in pawn shops over the years. Never got "stung" once. Get yourself the "Blue Book of Gun Values" and you will be able to compare the condition of the firearm to the suggested price. The one thing to watch out for is used muzzleloaders that may not have been cleaned properly. This is a common problem but you can get some sweet deals if you point out to the pawn shop that the bore was not maintained properly. Just last week I got a 20 ga Rem 870 Youth Model for my son for $160. The gun was in 90% condition and retails for 329 new (MSRP). They are 239 new at Walmart. Like others have said, know the value of the gun you are interested in before you begin to dicker. HTH

I have worked for my buddy in his pawn shop for years part time. i have worked off many guns that came from a pawn shop.
yeah sometimes the price tag reflects a high price. that is just a asking price . most shops will come way down off that price. if they don't want to, shop elsewhere and let them know you will !
you have to work them in pawn shops for the price you want. pawn shops love suckers !!don't be a sucker!!
