I have an encore, but it is in a pistol, with a 15" .308 barrel. It is awsome. I would strongly suggest this gun. You can turn it into anything you want for about $200 for a new barrel. Mike Belm makes alot of aftermarket parts for thompson. Check out www.accuratereloading.com . They have a good forum for single shot pistols and rifles. That guy also advertises there. Hope this helps

I dont own one, but my next door neighbor and hunting buddy just bought one in a .270 and it shoots great. I watched him take a night doe at close to 300 yards the other day. I think having a single shot really does make you a better shot. He really had to wait for the right shot and take careful aim. I wouldnt mind having one myself now.

I've been waiting for some one to bring up the subject on the T/C encore rifle. I have my eye on the 7mm rem. mag. I like the option on changing barrels and synthetic camo forend and stock. I'll be keeping an eye on this topic.

Let me tell you, if it came down to my wife or my Encore, I guess I'd have to buy another barrel to replace my wife. I have the encore in .308 and 454 Casull 15" barrels and the 209x50 rifle barrel. I couldn't ask for a better gun. I shoot about 1 1/4" groups with the .308 and 2x scope using 150gr partitions. With the 454 I shoot about 3 - 4" 100 yd groups with iron sights and a 240 gr. hornady xtp mag bullet. This I blame on my eyes, not the gun. With the 209x50, I shoot 300 gr. hornady xtp mag with 150 gr. pyrodex pellets and scope and get about 1" groups. I've killed deer with all but the 454 and performance was flawless. I can't wait to see how the 454 performs. I'll be getting the 22-250 next.
