RE: New Remington 710 rifle
ORIGINAL: elgallo114 Another 710 thread where everyone s-talks the rifle and very few of you own one or have even shot one. Now that I said that, I'm sure you'll say you have. Whatever. Every "gunsmith" or "gun dealer" on this board says "all" their customers have had problems with them. Yet, me and my 2 buddies who bought one have never had problems with them. And we all put 2 or 3 hundred rounds a year through them. Been three years now. I don't know how many rifles were affected by the recall, but according to Remington, any other problems reported and serviced under warranty numbered about the sames as for their other lines. IN THEIR PRICE RANGE, they are just as good as any other rifle. The Savage has it's problems too, but you never hear about them. Why? Cuz they stuck to the mold and didn't try anything new. That's what people don't like about the 710. There's some innovative ideas incorporated on it and a lot of people just don't like the change. Fine. Don't buy it. But to bad mouth something you've no experience with is stupid and irresponsible. I've seen many Savage's on the shelf already broken. All a broken rifle on the shelf means is that the store has poor supervision of idiot customers abusing the rifles when they are looking at them. Anything can break. Typical whinny remarks.. "They had a recall!" So has Honda and Lexus. It happens. The mark of a good company is one that will stand by it's product and recall it if necessary. "They're made with some plastic!" So is the space shuttle, spy satalites, and most of your computer. Plastic does not mean crap. It does not mean weaker than metal. In fact, in a lot of ways, plastic is more durable and longer lasting than most metals. "They feel like junk!" So does the M16 and all it's varients. And regardless of some of your opinions of the M16 series, it is still the standard weapon of the baddest Mother F'ing military in the world. And, it's also the highest selling rifle in thecivilian market. It's the most used platform for match rifles and varmint rifles. So, don't like the 710? Who cares. Own one for a few years then talk. Mines fine. Not my first choice. Not my last. I got what I paid for, and that's all I ever ask. |
RE: New Remington 710 rifle
And you've obviously had extensive experience with this rifle? You can bash it all you want. It won't change reality for those who actually own one. And if they do and then they want to bash it, good. At least they have a respectable opinion instead of just jumping on a band wagon.

RE: New Remington 710 rifle
Chantecler, no disrespect to you or anything, but have you ever shot the 710 before? To me it shoots pretty good. As you know I killed an 8 point buck a couple of weeks ago. I can't complain about my 710. I can't say anything about Savage rifles because i've never shot or even held one before. I also am not saying that you don't know your stuff.

RE: New Remington 710 rifle
Here's the thing. I'm not trying to **** talk Chantecler or anyone else who does not like the 710.
I'm just saying that I don't think it's fair to bash a product, any product, without ever having owned one or extensively used one. If you have then you are certainly entitled to not like it. If you have never owned one, then you are still entitled to make negative comments about it, just like anyone else. But to go as far as some people do in bashing certain products with out personal knowledge of them, just seems stupid to me. Would I recommend this rifle to others? Well, I don't see the real need to since you can just buy a 700 for about $150 more. Or save another couple hundred and buy top of the line 700. But if someone were hell bent on spending under 400 for a rifle, then yes, it's just as good as any other rifle under 400. Just my opinion. I, like everyone, could be wrong. |
RE: New Remington 710 rifle
For anybody who wants to doubt my experience, I have shot many 710's, I work at a range and sight guns in for people all the time, I just cannot get any 710 to shoot as good as my Savage, and if anyone here can get groups under 3/4" with their 710 then please post it.
