Default .410 ShotGun Question

A .410 smothbore barrel at 50 yards with a slug.

Or a .410 rifled barrel at 50 yards with a sabot.

For mediam size game would this be a good choice ?

At 50 yards what kind of group do you think it would shoot ?

And has any one used a .410 like this ?
If you did how did it do ?

Thank You

I'm not aware of any sabot slugs for the 410. However, if there are, they'd most likely be in the .357 or smaller catagory and would be rather 'iffy' for deer-sized game at anything over 20 - 30 yards. Now, before anyone flames me, I know that someone out there shot his 32 pt buck at 180 yards using his trusty 410, but that's not a 'normal' use nor a 'normal' range.
The 410 is rather limited in it's power out at the 50 yard range. Most of the people I know here in Indiana that use one limit their shots to 30 yards and closer. And most usually use the basic slug.
Groups they are getting are in the 3-4" size from what I'm told.

410s are actually illegal for use on big game in my home province. They are a little to lacking in power for big game according to many people including fish and wildlife.

Not deer more on the line of stray/wild dogs and coyotes.
Smaller animals than deer.

The smallest size I’ve seen in sabot is 20 ga. and around here you can’t use anything smaller then 20 ga. for deer hunting...
NOT FOR DEER

For Small animals like wild/stray dogs and coyotes etc.
At 50 yards or less.

Thank You

I believe the .410 slug weighs 95 grains!

I also don't think it should be used on deer sized animials unless youVERY close, and make a perfect shot!
