Six bucks posted for six different teams. It's starting to heat up.

How has everyone on our team been doing?

I was out last weekend and didn't see anything. It was windy and and had heavy rains the night before. I'm going out tomorrow afternoon till sunset. Maybe better luck then. I've got my vacation coming up in a week so then I'll be able to every waking moment in the field and in my stand. I can't believe I'm not still waiting for opening day. I love this time of year!

I have yet to see a buck from the tree.[:'(][:'(] My brother in law has seen a couple, but that is it. It was pretty warm this weekend. I did not see anything Saturday morning. I took my 8 year old son with me on Saturday night, (his first deer hunt), so I did not expect to see anything then (we sat on the ground). I jumped 2 does on my way to the stand last night. Around 6:15pm I saw a deer approx. 60 yards from me, but could not tell what it was. Hopefully with colder temps on the way, the deer will move a little more.

It was a rough one for me as well. I was in my stand for most of the day. It was youth firearm weekend so blaze orange for bowhunters as well. I just don't have that high confidence level when in blaze orange. I had the only dear I'd seen all day come within 35 yds when she just stared right at me. It took her less than a second to turn and be out of sight. I came down late in the afternoon and headed for the trail to lead me back to the truck. On my way out I tripped on a downed tree hidden in the brush and fell over into a nasty thorn bush. I still have about a dozen or so thorns stuck in my right hand, can't get 'em out. I got myself back on my feet and made the trail and a half hour walk to the truck. On my way driving home, near home after an hour and a half drive, I went to make sure I had turned off my handheld gps unit. I keep it in a "Buddy Lock" pouch on my pack. Or at least I used to. My pouch was gone. Not on my pack, not on my seat, not on floor, gone. My heart drops as I realize what was in my pouch. My gps of course, my gloves which I should of been wearing, my rattle bag, and oh yeah, all of this seasons tags. It all must still be hanging on the bush I fell into. What a way to end the day. Several hundreds of dollars in the hole.

Well, I've reordered the gps, bought 1 new set of either sex dear tags (getting the other ones replaced by the DNR but not in time for vacation) bought new gloves and a rattling bag. I'm heading out to (hopefully) the same spot on Monday to look for the lost items. If I had my gps I could be sure to locate the spot. How ironic!

Lesson learned. No valubles in "Buddy Lock" pouches. As a matter of fact no Buddy Lock anything.

Better luck to the rest of The Big Ten.
I'm going back to plucking thorns.

Man, that sucks. Sounds like you didn't have the greatest weekend, but hopefully you'll find your stuff the next time you go out.

Don't worry, you're not the only one having a bad year. I haven't even seen a buck while hunting yet. Not one. But I guess that's why they call it hunting.

I hear ya shootem!!!! The weather in my neck of the woods is going to be nasty to say the least!!! Saturday morning......wet, cold and windy.....wind gusts up to 35 mph!!![:@][:@] I will have to think long and hard about climbing in a tree. Sounds like hunting from the ground weather. The wind is supposed to die down Saturday night, so hopefully with the cool weather the bucks will move.....Something has to give soon!!!![8D][8D]

~~~~A REMINDER TO ALL OF TEAM 10~~~~
with deer starting to move more as we are getting closer to the rut i felt that now would be a good time to remind everyone to reread the rules for the pictures of bucks killed for the contest. make sure you have your bow in the picture first of all!! and i think that it was removed but it would still be a good idea to get a picture with the tag on the deer.
i went out to the property i hunt to talk to the farmer and saw a buck chasing 3 does. i think that the rut will come a little earlier this year. i will be going out tomorrow night to hopefully SEE a deer. havent decided which spot im going to yet. good luck team 10, and wish me luck!!
Man...are we still breathing here or what!!!! I am just curious to know if anyone is seeing anything worth harvesting. Me personally, I am seeing deer but the bucks are small and the does are still with their fawns. I know that will change soon, but COME ON!!!! The weather here in SW Ohio this weekend sounds more like spring.....highs in the low 70's, lows in the high 50's. Oh well could be worse........!!!![&:][&:]
same here. seeing a lot of deer but no bucks worth the shot in my opinion. i'll tell you guys this, i have been checking out the bucks shot and scored for the contest, if i were to shoot some of those bucks i might lose permission to hunt where i do. my moms sister is married into this family who owns the farm where i hunt so i have known them forever and there is no way the owner would let someone come in and hunt and shoot a 60 class buck. he would have a fit!!!!!!!!. he would kick my ass first and foremost and them not let me hunt. last year there were a few good bucks taken and every one of us will let the smalls ones walk. i took 2 doe during gun season and the owner took a small wounded deer he saw limping and got within 10yrds of it a put it down. only a small basket rack 6pt but he would have suffered if he didnt shoot him. he had seen a huge 12pt. that morning about 200yrds out and still did the right thing and took out the wounded deer and used his tag. it has been about 3 or 4 years since anyone got a real monster off this farm or the surrounding farms, we see them off about 400yrds bedded down in corn stubble but they are smart enough to stay that far out and when you even think about trying to sneak up on one they are gone. just a matter of time before one makes a mistake chasing tail and then someone will have a true monster on the wall. until then i will thin out the doe when gun season comes along and keep on head hunting with a bow. so if i dont get a buck sorry guys but if i do believe me he will be well worth the time, effort and patience i put into my hunting. wish me luck. maybe i'll get to post a monster in the next week or so.
A quiet month so far. October has come and gone. I spent my vacation sitting in several trees all week. No success, very little sign. A few small rubs, no scrapes. The DNR out in Ogle County found my pack with my GPS, rattlin' antlers and my seasons tags. They were nice enough to send me a letter stating their find. My good fortune.
I've spent the last week doing some promised home improvements and using the little free time I have tuning a new Parker I bought a few weeks ago. If all goes well this week the Parker is going to spend some quality time with me in my stand this weekend.
I hope everyone has been enjoying their season. It has seemed to be a tough season for me to read. I keep reminding myself....patience and confidence will persevere.
Welcome November!
Good luck to all!
