I've found that dry silicone sprayed onto a paper towel and rubbed on works great!

Yea, I bet the silicone would work good. I was thinking of using that. I use it on my dry fly lines. It keeps em' slick and floating high for a long time. Better than anything else I've tried...

Hasn't seemed to bother and I've had Deer very close.
