I had this same problem at a local " public range" in the local metropark. Ohio is a crossbow legal state, has been for many years . the sighn at this place clearly states no crossbows. brought my own block target and used the range untill i was surrounded by several of the local patrons and was told to leave and dont come back. was told the same BS line archers ass. rules. well i told them my compound shoots 320 feet per second and my crossbow shoots 300 and im useing my own target, whats the problem here ? shouldnt be private rules in a public place but the ass. maintains the targets. yet it gets mowed and maintained by the metroparks. i love my compound and my crossbow.... to think i was going to join there stupid ass. well i havea 9year old son and a 10 year old daughter who i would have sighned up well i hope they enjoy there private club on public property.

here are many reasons why compound shooters dont want crossbows..

here is my info..with the crossbow, that puts more hunters in woods, they dont like that..next, they feel crossbow shooter is sissy,or to lazy to practice..

next, disabled use them, again that more hunters in woods and some of disabled are not disabled and were always hunters that cheated or always had easy way to get deer..they all talk about the disabled that they feel, are not..

it comes down to this, they dont like crossbow shooters for that reason..most of hunters i have seen with crossbow NEVER could shoot a recurve or compound, they did not practice or care to..now they are using crossbow..

i dont hate them, hell, i get those dirty looks too when i shoot in crossbows for friends ..they think i am 1 lazy son of b..i even hada archer say to me,YOU OLD PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN WOODS, GIVE US KIDS A CHANCE TO KILL A DOE..

boy, that ticked me off, i said, buddy, sproulman is no DOE killer ,i am buck hunter, get that!! ha, have to put those young pee pots in their place once in awhile..
