Lincoln, Nebraska range NOT allowing crossbows...

I can't copy/paste the whole thread, but I'll post the link and part of the story. Any Nebraska folk who want to put in your .02, please feel free to call the range. I'm trying to get the name of the range and location now...

A quote from the thread....
"FINALLY I got to speak to someone who actually helped me. He said that they don't allow X-bows because they are following the rules set forth by the NFA (National Field Archery Assoc.). THERE rules don't allow for crossbows. Something about a walk through range and the power of the crossbows."
This is BS and must be corrected ASAP!!!!!!

It sounds like a privately owned range, which means they have every right to make whatever rules they see fit regardless of what we may think of them. If it bothers you that much lobby them to change the rule or patronize a different range. They've already lied about the reason, I'd go somewhere else.

Well, seeing as how I live in Florida and the range is in Nebraska, I don't think I'd be going there anytime soon anyway. The point is...just the flat out lie that the NFAA set the rules, and the lies to the public about it. Wonder how many disabled hunters/archers were turned away by this stupidity? Yes, being complacant and going somewhere else is a much better idea. (thats sarcasm)

AHHHHHHHHHHH YES!!!!!!!! This is from one of the people involved in this issue...
""""A quick tidbit via Greg Wagner of the Nebraska Game and Parks, who moments ago left my office after a nice 30 minuted pow wow..
He is confident that the X-bow restriction would be lifted in Lincoln.. after all, you can shoot a crossbow AT EVERY OTHER Game & Parks archery range including Omaha....
The reason we haven't heard back from the Lincoln regional officer yet is because he is assisting in the Big Horn Sheep project this week..
And Mr Wagner told me the last thing anybody wants is to upset the SANDS program, which is a positive project for the NG&P...
Brother, we should win this one. Thanks for you help.""""
See what going someplace else would have gotten? NOTHING!!!!

I know the ranges around here dont like Crossbows,BUT the guys at my local shop put a add in the paper to start a new range that welcome all bow shooters.I went there and asked them if it ment Crossbows too and Nic said yes.Hopefully they will find some land to get it going. He also wants to build a new store with a indoor range.

Good luck to them!!!!!! There is no reason xbows should not be allowed at ANY range. I can understand about not using thier targets, but to not allow them at all under false pretenses (like in my story)just rips me a new one.

It probably is more of a member thing then anything else.Someday one of thos members is not going to be able to shoot a comp/recurve anymore and need a crossbow if they want to continue to bow hunt and it will come back on them..

It still pisses me off that they are twisting words to justify it. Thats my problem.
