Forum Behavior

I have been a member here for many years. I stopped coming to the forum because of the behavior of a few members. A few weeks ago, it was recommended that I come back because this forum had changed.

Well, unfortantly I see that is has not. Over the last few weeks or so, it was common for me to see the past bad behavior again. Members typically attack other members which state their personal opinion because they feel it was incorrect.

People you do not need to attack a person for making a personal opinion public. If you feel that opinion is incorrect, then disprove it with what you feel is the truth. Support it with data if you can. Everyone has or will have different opinions from the next one in line. If you feel you have to attack something, attack the statement, not the person. Free exchange of opinions and statements only makes a forum a better place.

The only way crossbow hunters or shooters can or will convince politicians that crossbows Do Not Give Any More Of An Advantage To The Hunter Then The Compound Does Over the Longbow or Recurve is to teach the people that do not know the truth. Bashing, thrashing and name calling will not ever do that. Disprove incorrect statements with data which will back up your statement. We need to leave an image in the minds of the UNKNOWN that wee are not morons but civil educated ethical hunters. If you are able to prove your statements or opinions, then the uneducated will get to figure out the truth on their own, most people are smart, and if not, then they will never learn anyway.

If we do not behave in a proper manner, then we will never get the recognition that the crossbow deserves.

I think for the most part we here in the CBforum treat each other good and have a great time. But I will admit that I do tryand refrain from it but when the same old song and dance comes in timeafter time about a CB being like a gun or a CB being alot easier then acompoundbow it just excites us to anger. I can remember when this forum was first started back last January and we would all try and talk it out when that stuff comes up. But some people just get tired of the same old rhetoric so when one comes in and makes them kind of comments, they just get it with both barrels. like I say,I think we all do a good job, just sometimes it gets old trying to convince people of something we should not have to.

Good topic.I have not been on this BB very long or the other site I belong to,but one thing Ive learned is that being passive is the best thing, not that I dont want to be aggressive but you allways run into thos people that think thier (you know what dont stink).I live in a state where I cant hunt with a CB,dosnt mean I wont by one,NO. WHY because maybe some day I will.Thats why I come here once in awhile.
You get the same thing weather its rifle, compound, traditional, handgun, blackpowder. The re are people that bash each one rather then read and learn(like I do).I know more about these things then I let on.I hunt with all of these.Except CB.....
I know alot of it is good old time rubbin, but some people take it father then it needs to go.
The one thing I do hate is members getting on someone for there spelling, grammer, cant complete a full sentance c&ap.Maybe its just easyer to get to the point then being spelling andgramer efficiant.
There is a saying........
He who talks alot knows little..He who talks little KNOWS alot....Witch is were I fall into.(talks little)
I like to get on the BB and read throw in a little here and there, but thats it.
When someone is wrong or being to self absorbent(anel)I let it pass. One thing I do is learn more.
We all have our own opinions on certain things, some should be sharedand others should justbe kept to oneself.
This is just me.

Ranger, if anyone on these forums correct me on anything which has merit, I appriciate it! By correcting is the proper way of learning.

I don't have the attitude of, "Ah, he doesn't know what he's saying, the hell with him". If a person comes back at you and asks, "Are you sure", take the time to do a search on the same subjectand show him what you are telling him.

Don't be a Verse to be heard, be a Verse to be seen!

RE: Forum Behavior

Although I agree with you Ranger there is a point at which the spelling is so bad that the speller couldn't possibly care whether or not anyone understands. When I speak to someone in my line of occupation I watch their eyes and look at body language to make sure they understand. Its fine that not everyone can spell well but one has to put an effort into spelling. Some times it is just painfully obvious no effort was done to enusre the reader can read and understand the post.
I do, however disagree that the ones that post a little know more. An analogy would be a teacher that speaks little knows more? On forums we are all supposed to be teaching, therefore someone that posts a lot may have more to share. sharing it the whole point of being on a forum. Maybe you should speak/post more?
Just one man's opinion.

RH. I agree totally,if your not sure, resurch before speeking.

Dnk. One mans point well taken.

I had a severe head and Braininjury in 78,Nov,23rd to be exact.Had just turned 18 in Oct,and was riding with a friend and was in a bad bad car crash.anyway.

I lost the ability to put what Iam thingking on to paper or to verbel comunication. To this day Iam still suffering from that crash. That is why I do not put more imput intothese forums.(speek little).

And most of the days Iam on the BB after 1:00 am.so someones usally has ansered the many ? asked. If not I might throw in my thoughts or oppinions.
It takes longer for my thoughts to get processed andto the keys then the average person.

Forgot. Some people dopost alot and know alot.Others know alot and post little;):D.

Ranger, you won't be winning any spelling contests but I have no problem understanding your posts. If it bothers you I believe Hotburn has a link to a spelling tool.
If this is as bad as it gets then I don't see any reason for more of your imput. My hunting partner is dyslexic as well as both sons. No male in that family can spell worth a rats butt. He was in charge of a mid-sized town's news paper, go figure! One of his sons went through university and got his degree and now teaches. He uses some sort of small computer like a hand held calculator that corrects his spelling.
Any how I invite you to contribute more and teach us what we don't know. You might have some fun too!

I wasn't making fun of ranger. The post has to do with the drive he has to make every day. He drives 75 miles a day and after looking on google earth I was amazed at the number of pot holes full of water and probably watefowl he drives by. I'm guessing that isn't what you thought I was thinking.
