jerky smell in dehydrater

Does anybodys jerky have a bad smell right when you take it out of the dehydrater ?

If you gut shot the deer you made the Jerky from it probably does stink when you take it out. Hee - Hee

Mine don't. How did the meat smell before you started? How much fat was on it? What did you soak it in?
