What's your favorite type of treestand?
I use a L
ON
C fixed position stand.
A Hunters View Hawk Cable Climber which I have fallen in love with.
and of course
Everyone's favorite homemade treestand. You know, the one with boards nailed up to climb into the stand. LOL.
I was just curious what kind you guys use and how you like them.

I have an API Grand Slam Bowhunter I have had for a few years but a buddy just got a summit and I think they may get my money this time.
No problems with the API it has been a realy good stand but 99% of the hunters on this board can't all be wrong.
I will stay with the climbers as I like to move around a lot.

I have several LocOn treestands and a Summit Bushmaster climber. Like them all for different reasons.....the climber for comfort and mobilityand the locOns for their ease of use and convenience.

I've got a two year old summit viper and a new API Grand Slam Bowhunter. Since these are the only two I've used with the exception of an old Amacker Deer Thief (ouch my butt hurts thinking about it!), my nod goes to the Summit. No pins, no aligning up holes for the chain, quick pull straps for the feet, the safety harness has quick pull straps and the attach rope is light with no bulky detachment buckle that goes clang against the stand. The quick-pull strap summit sends to hold up the upper half on the tree (stabilizer)is quick and light and also holds both halves together tight when packed. I do like API's ditty bag and velcro covered arm pads. Both are comfortable and quiet, but the Summit is a little slicker to use. JMHO

My Hunters View Hawk Cable Climber is very comfortable. Has a back pad, front rail pad, arm rest pads, and quick adjust feet straps. It's more then worth $105.86 tax and all at Wal-Mart. I also have a API that is much like my Hunters View Hawk Cable Climber, but it doesn't have the back rest, the arm pads, or the comfortable padded sling seat. It just has a sling seat that cuts the blood off to my legs and makes them fall asleep. Which results in a lot of standing up and sitting down. I don't have that problem in the new Hawk Cable Climber.
As for the LocOn stand I have. It's great to throw up in a tree and use the next day but it's really nerve-racking. I don't know about everyone else, but I hate using those little stands like that. They don't make me feel that safe. But I use them for their convinence.
