KE=(arrow speed in FPS) X (arrowspeed in FPS) X the weight of the arrow in grains divided by 450240.

The formula is (arrow weight X speed X speed)/450240

Just FYI, 450240 contains the conversion from grains to pounds (7000 grains per pound) and the gravitational constant to convert weight to mass (32.16 feet per second per second).

I don't understand this formula that some of you listed. (with the division of 450240) My college physics class had the formula for KE as 1/2 mass X velocity squared.

The dictionary lists KE as; The energy possesed by a body because of its motion, equal to one half the mass of the body times the square of its speed. This agrees with my physics course.

Where does this other formula fit in?
