Ok all ya'll Hoyt bashers, here's yer chance.....My Hoyt is a year old, and tonight I had to take it in for new cables...My tech there said that was sort of odd, used to be common until Hoyt changed the cable slide.....I know it aggravated the heck outta me....only a year old, but I shoot it a lot....What do ya'll think?

I don't know why Hoyt cannot put a good string and cables on a bow. Every manufacture has the little things it doesn't do and this is the problem with hoyt.

I shoot quite a bit and I'm on year 2 for my bowtech cables and they still look great. Do you wax the string regularly? That sounds kinda dirty.[:-]

I use lots of wax on my string and cables, at least every two weeks when I'm shooting my Hoyt regularly. I don't know what the shop set me up with the last time I changed out my rigging, but I know it wasn't Hoyt. I gotta find out though, because I like the stuff and the shop's gone out of business. I'll be on my own next time I need to change out.

The OEM hoyt strings and cables are crap! The D75 material never seems to stop stretching. If you managed to get 1 year out of the cables then consider yourself lucky.

The next time you consider a cable replacement I would look into a custom cable such as a Winners Choice, Vapor Trail, ProString, etc... Look for strings and cables made out of 452X. I shoot alot, and generally end up replacing my strings and cables every year (~7-10K shots per year on my target bow). A good string on a hunting rig, with moderate use should last you for a couple of years.

IMHO I think the Hoyts are the best shooting bows out there, but their strings are nearly the worst. The OEM string on my ProElite lasted 1 week before I replaced it.

I have had my Hoyt for going on 6 years I think. I never had any problems with the string.

I shoot the Razer Tech from Hoyt and after about two months changed my strings,I changed them cause I like making my own, and trust them more than any string. Also with the Hoyt Havoc I had I did the same thing after a cable broke on me at full draw a couple years ago.I try not to think of it.

my hoyt is over three years old, shot extensively, and the only thing I have had to replace was the serving. no problems with the string.
