our season opened on sat. a friend and i went to the hills for turkey. we put 4-6 goblers to rost ,set the blind. then tried to sleep that night!

the next morning came early 4:10, we had coffee then headed tothe blind. we got settled in and waited. soon after we heard the birds, then the fly down. we called they called back and forth a few times! then about 10 min. we say them 4 toms, strutting and moving our way! then they turned and left? i called and called nothing? 15 mins. later wham here he comes, i got the camera on him. he came all the way to the jake decoy! he cocked his head and was ready for a fight! then he turned facing away buddy drew his bow! the bird heard him! came out of full strut and was ready to leave, then wack buddy shot. the bird flew up and then just walked off! we looked the arrow over then watched the tape again. we thought it was a little high. then we saw it, his arrow cut the bottom of the zipper for the window! this caused his arrow to fly high! [] we then circled around for about 2 hours, no sign of the bird! no blood just a few feathers! he was only 7 yards![>:] maybe next time!

It happens. Thats the name of the game. Good encounter though. Must have been exciting.

It sucks you didn't tag the bird but if you had it may have ended your season. It sounds like you had a great hunt and hopefully you've still got another chance to match wits with Mr.Tom.

Feel fortunate to be out there. Some of us have to draw a spring tom tag.

That stinks. I shot at a hog, from a tree this year. The arrow found the only branch within 20 feet. It caused the arrow to fly high, not to mentinon made all kinds of noise.[:@]
