the Game Tracker Terminator 6075 I bought from Walmart flys perfectly with my Muzzy 100 3 Blades. I shot it 3 times from 20 yards and got about a 1" group with the practice blades on(hitting same spot as field points). When I shoot my gold tips (XT 5575)I seem to get more sporadic flight. The arrow actually looks like it makes a big sprial on the way to the target. The Goldtips are about 3" shorter. When I bought them, the guy who sold them to me just had me draw back and he made a mark on the shaft where he thought they should be cut (Just in front of the whisker biscuit) I guess my question is, could the shaft length be affecting the flight of my arrows, or is it just an improperly tuned bow? It seems to me that there should be a more systematic way for determining shaft length. Also, the Game Trackers have helical fletchings whereas the Gold Tips do not. I'm shooting a Mathews Legacy with a 30.5" draw and 72lb draw weight. Thanks for your help.

If your getting better flight with the gametrackers, thats what i'd shoot, you need helical fletching especially with fixed blade heads or the head does the steering.

Gold tips dont have a very good spining rule. What i mean is that if your shootin a 30.5 at 72 pounds, your right on the line of where your shaft should be spined. All 5575 arrows by gold tip are made for 55 pound to 75 pound bows. If your in the middle area of those two wieghts, they shoot great. But if your on the line then its tough for them to tune. The helical fletching also plays a role. The main thing is shoot what shoots best. Three of us at the store i work at shoot legacys, all at 70 pounds 30 inches. The other 2 guys shoot gold tips just fine, and im even thinkin of goin to them, but they both are on the line of spine. Just my 2 pennys.

I dont have any trouble getting my GT XT's 5575 to fly straight.
But I do use 5" vains with a 6 degree right helical.
Try refletching with helical and see if that makes a difference if it dont then stick with the terminators.

I think I'll try refletching half of the GT's to see if they fly better with helical. If that still doesn't work, I'll take some weight off of the bow and then if needed try paper and bare shaft tuning to see if I can fix the problem. If I still don't notice a difference, I'll throw away my Mathews and go buy a Hoyt!!!(As opposed to getting some shooting lessons)<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
