SELF imposed is the key word. There are still plenty of fisherman who chow down on everything they catch.

Just like fishing, if it makes you feel better to let the little ones go - you should do that.

Bowdacious you can shoot whatever you want as long as it is legal. Others like me will let the young bucks walk and just shoot a doe. Doe meat is way better anyway. I figure if i pass a lot of young bucks the next season i could get one to go on my wall, right next to my 158" buck i shot this year. The 158" that i shot this year would have never been like that if i would just go out there and kill all the little 4 pts. This is just my opinion, your entitled to yours as well as everyone else...

I agree with what you are saying and the philosophy behind it. But do you realize how monumentally impossible it is for everyone to be able to practice QDM??

well bodacious i am w/ you 100 % i'm not saying it is for young hunters or beginners. but if you have taken several deer what is the big deel w/ killing a 4 pt. why not take a doe or 2 and wait on a mature buck regardless of the amount of point. you will never get it through some peoples heads though they will keep going out and killing 3-4 4pts and passing on does to tell everybody they killed x # of bucks. this discussion will never die and i am lucky that my lease practices QDM. if you break the rules you are fined 250$

Self imposed indeed, you guys crack me up!!! I never seen a 12" bass on somebody's wall.I think the guys eating all the fish could be shooting all the younger deer. Are the little fish more tender than the big ones or do they just taste better??? No wunder why we Americans are so over weight!!!!!
