Check out the Wildlife Management section on this forum. There is a lot of great info there, and some very helpful people there. Good luck !!

I plant a mix of wheat/oats/rye and white ladino clover...I've done this for about 6 years...I usually treat the area to be planted in the spring with Roundup then lime soil...treat again with Roundup the middle of August and fertilize...then lightly disc mid-September, plant wheat mix, lightly disc again to cover seed, then plant clover...I buy my seed from Southern States (local farm co-op)...The wheat mix brings the deer in for hunting season and attracts turkeys for spring...the clover patch is good for 4-5 years...I rotate between 3 plots so I have a fresh plot planted each fall...My plots are about 75 yards by 50 yards....The first year I did this I consistantly saw 20-25 deer an evening feeding in the plot....I plant the plots 80-90 yards away from my stand, so I can slip out after dark without spooking the deer....I've tried some of the more expensive seed mixes, they worked, but....they are also pretty expensive....For attracting and holding deer during the fall season its hard to beat wheat/oats/rye and clover....That being said...If I had unlimited $$$$ would try some of the higher protein mixes to help antler growth
PS...I also put out mineral mix...Southern States brand is 2 to 1...its calcium and phosperous this is done in the spring...this is the same thing they leave in the pastures for cattle.
