Hunting with a xbow is more like hunting with a 12 ga slugs or my 41 sixshooter.
You frickin use gunpowder, primers and bullets out of your crossbows ? UNREAL ! Thats like me saying I used a compound last year, it was a lot like using a bazooka or a nuclear weapon - same thing really

can see from all the difrant post YOU 3 are some of the very few that think as you do. Most do not think the xbow and bow are the same at all.
Odd how 100% of the people for it are from crossbow states and 100% of the people against it are from non-crossbow states isn't it?

I sure havent seen anyone else post how they use them every year and they have made there hunting any better.
I don't think you have seen us post that we use them every year either.

It is bad how some guys can set and tell you how you should be with the xbow BUT they do not even use them there selfs.
It's bad that I am thinking about the ways to get people involved in bowhunting and that I am thinking of ways to make it easier for women, children, and those that are unable to shoot a compound to be able to hunt during the archery season

AS I stated befor the ONLY time people push some thing they do not use is for MONEY or some outher profet.
That's pretty sad in intself that you think the only time people advocate for something is when they have something to gain. however, it's not surprising because the whole anti-crossbow argument is centered around greed.

This doesn't justify un-restricted allowance into archery season

Pretty bold statement to be making. Especially for someone who gets all his facts from his hunting buddies.

Are you kidding me?

To add to what Data said...Does a crossbow have an effective range of 150-200yds?????

Oh and BTW I live in Illinois where crossbows are only legal to the handicapped. I have never shot a crossbow nor do I plan on putting down my compound bow, or pistol or shot gun or rifle. If they become legal I would probably like to try one though.

And for the record I have NOTHING to gain from legalizing crossbows other than to have the pleasure to see others enjoy the woods and be able to hunt with other archers that have the same effective range as them and must hunt in the same manner as they do in order to get close enough to make a kill shot.

The way you and some others make it sound. You can just pick up your crossbow and sit in a blind 200yds away from where the deer are moving and just pick them off one by one. Sorry but you must set up your hunt in the EXACT SAME WAY as you would if you had a compound bow in your hands. The only difference is when the shot actually takes place. The SET UP is the SAME, as is the effective range, how the energy is stored, how the energy is used, the type of projectile, the mode of propellant (string). And before someone starts spouting off about scopes I have seen red dot scopes on compound bows!

So everything is the EXACT SAME THING except a crossbow has a stock and keeps the string cocked, but it's like some kind of "leap of faith" for some of you to see that. Sorry but my six year old can see that they are the same.

[]Do you really think your going to get somewhere with that?

Man, I wish we had a 12 gauge with an effective range of 200 yards up here in the North - We're a little behind in technology.
