Hunting with a xbow is mor like hunting with a 12 ga slugs
Are you kidding me?

To add to what Data said...Does a crossbow have an effective range of 150-200yds?????

Oh and BTW I live in Illinois where crossbows are only legal to the handicapped. I have never shot a crossbow nor do I plan on putting down my compound bow, or pistol or shot gun or rifle. If they become legal I would probably like to try one though.

And for the record I have NOTHING to gain from legalizing crossbows other than to have the pleasure to see others enjoy the woods and be able to hunt with other archers that have the same effective range as them and must hunt in the same manner as they do in order to get close enough to make a kill shot.

The way you and some others make it sound. You can just pick up your crossbow and sit in a blind 200yds away from where the deer are moving and just pick them off one by one. Sorry but you must set up your hunt in the EXACT SAME WAY as you would if you had a compound bow in your hands. The only difference is when the shot actually takes place. The SET UP is the SAME, as is the effective range, how the energy is stored, how the energy is used, the type of projectile, the mode of propellant (string). And before someone starts spouting off about scopes I have seen red dot scopes on compound bows!

So everything is the EXACT SAME THING except a crossbow has a stock and keeps the string cocked, but it's like some kind of a leap of faith for some of you to see that. Sorry but my six year old can see that they are the same.
[]Do you really think your going to get somewhere with that?

Man, I wish we had a 12 gauge with an effective range of 200 yards up here in the North - We're a little behind in technology.
