Show me a bowhunter of any type who takes a shot at an animal 75 yards away, and I'll show you a moron.

Data, you never been busted trying to draw on a whitetail? Oh, that's right... You said you didn't consider 1 1/2-year-olds any easier than mature animals. That figures.

MQ1shooter - Chuck Adams isn't a moron. Go to the Bowsite and visit the western forums ......... 75 shots are taken - and made - quite often with compounds. Never hear of those shots being taken with crossbows/recurve/longbows though

And I HAVE been busted and often. I don't remember a big buck ever busting me though. The does are the ones that bust - lots of eyes, alert - especially the old mama does. Arguably the smartest deer in the woods

You said you didn't consider 1 1/2-year-olds any easier than mature animals.
Actually I said that 1.5 year old deer are plenty enough challenge for me with my recurve. The compound isn't nearly the challenge of a recurve, and I passed smaller bucks with the compound that I'd have shot with the recurve.

Do you understand that concept of HUNTING ?

and the false statements continue

Several guys with one arm have been known to shoot compounds and recurve both. They use their mouth to draw the string back. Its quite impressive ........... I could find a picture and an article if you wish, but yet again datamax has dispelled the silly wives tales that surround crossbows and compounds

I said ONE HAND AND ONE HAND ONLY---no mouth or anything else heeded

for that matter you could shoot two crossbows at the same time ---one in each hand

I still say moron, whether it be Chuck Adams or not. I think Chuck would argue and preach against that very practice himself. There's just too many variables involved. If the animal, even unalarmed, even takes a casual step forward at that distance, you could end up with a gut-shot animal, or who knows at that distance. I hold firm that shot has no place in archery yet -- not on live animals.

You're sharper than that, Stealthy... er, Datamax.

man i can't wait till next hunting season to get my crossbow out. the way you guys talk is that the deer will run right up to my tree and stop. then the crossbow will jump up lock on to the deer and fire with no chance of a miss. this may be the way it happens to a pea- brain. but sorry to say it does not come that easy. as far as i can see that most of you guys have never shot a crossbow and do not have the slightest idea what you are talking about. hell i know guys that can not hit a deer with a gun let alone a crossbow. and to the guy that worries about drawing his compound and holding it steady to make his shot you better stay on the practice range because you are not ready to hunt yet. that should be something that you do not even have to think about. no brain no pain.
