helical or straight offset fletchings
what do you guys think on fletchings...I feel that helical will fly more true, but will slow arrow down alot..So straight offset is my choice..I'm looking for advice on weather to go with 1degree or maybe 3 or 5 degree..[>:]

Helicals are the most accurate with offset in second. This test was preformed with a machine shot bow. I forgot where I read it but the results were amazing. I would go with helical. The extra fps lost won't hurt you, but the miss will.

The helical are alot more accurate. You wont even tell you lost the speed when you switch to helical from offset. I doubt you could tell through a chrono either.

RE: helical or straight offset fletchings
I shoot my goldtips with a 4 degree offset and it puts my Muzzy's right where I aim them.
IMO an offset of 4-5 degrees will give you a good compermise between your bows top speed and the best possible flight. What's you set up shooting for speed now? If you've got good speed loosing a couple of fps isn't a big deal. If you speed is moderate then a 4-5 degree off set may be the fit for you.

RE: helical or straight offset fletchings
For field points, I got good flight with straight offsets. My Muzzys seemed to group better with a good helical.
I threw some of my arrows high into the air (AWAY from me of course) and the straight offsets barely seemed to rotate. The helicals began spinning instantly convincing me that they were much more stable.
