Typically I get 3. Sometimes all with a bow sometimes not, depending on where I draw my doe tags.
Some things are true whether you believe them or not.

Ok,
So if you guys on average take between 2-5 deer per year and the average success rate for hunters in various states is somewhere in the 10%-35% range, a few hunters must be taking most of the deer.
I wonder why this is? Are there a lot of chumps in the woods?
Unrecorded kills?
Any theories?

You guys make me sick. In the west, for the most part, the limit is one deer, usually buck only. The general seasons are a month or less with a few extended season areas. Deer in the west also live in big country. The deer you see in one place today may be several miles away tomorrow just for something to do. Tree stands are the exception. Success is the exception as well, especially if you don't have vacation time to get after them. Count you blessing in the whitetail states

The people on this board are probably a little more serious about their time hunting, and do not represent the entire pool of license holders.
Many people will buy a license and barely use it.
I have before. I hated it, but work had me travelling all over hell.

I'd say I average 2 with a bow each yr...last yr. I got 4 with a bow due to moving to a urban area with more available tags.

Western muley hunting is alot different than eastern whitetail hunting but you don't need to attack people and sound like a @hole your very 1st post...

For years I shot one with the bow and then maybe one or two with the gun. For the past 10 years or so I've shot 5-7 with the bow and rarely one with the gun. I can only use 1 or 1 and some extra backstraps. It depends how many people I have around that want some meat. Last year I shot 5 and kept one. I usually give one or two to Farmers and Hunters Feed....... etc. We can shoot a lot more, but after 5 I'm about done for. I'll hunt like crazy but don't shoot an arrow the last month or two. I see them, but let them go unless they look at me wrong or something.
The two guys I hunt with do a bit more blood letting. I think the three of us shot 40 last year.

my first kill was when i was 12 with a bow. It was a small 8 point but i was soo happy. I kill around three a year only because my brother kills three also so we wouldnt be able to do anything with all the meat. I make sure to get one prize buck every year regardless of what it takes. . I only shoot bow not for any particular reason but it suits me best. but yeah you get the point
