Default Correct Arrow Weight

I Am Currently Upgrading To A Mathhews Switchback Which Is 33" ATA, Set At 60 lbs And 28" Draw. Manufacture Specifications Indicated IBO Of 318 fps At 70 lbs And 30" Draw Using 350 Grain Arrows. With This Information In Mind, How Should I Go About Determining The Best Arrow Weight? The Bow Is Exclusively Used For Hunting. I Am Currently Shooting Beman ICS 400 Hunters With 100 Grain Broadheads. I Am More Concerned Abount Accuracy And Energy (Pass Throughs) Rather Than Speed. Any Ideas Regarding Type And Weight Of Arrows Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

The numbers they give you are minimums as far as arrow weight goes. I like heavy arrows myself. Mine are a bit over 500 grains, maybe 550 I'm not sure. As long as your arrows are at least as heavy as they recomend you should be fine. You end up with a little more energy with heavy slow arrows than light fast ones but the light ones shoot alot flatter. Dont matter to me as I limit my shots to 30 yards & to be honest havent shot at a deer over 25.

perfect set up. I shoot the same arrow at a 28 in draw. I shoot 28 in arrows. You will get passthroughs all day long.

I also shoot 125 grain simmons land sharks with bleeders from this set up. The head, with bleeder, is around 140 grains. The extra 40 grains quiets the bow a little and has shot through a few big florida hogs. There is no spine issue, even at 65 lbs. I fyou are really concerned about energy, Id just shoot a cut on contact head- simmons, g5 or magnus stinger....in that order!Good luck.

With your setup at 28" draw at 60# ,the 400 Beman's should be just about perfect for your set up . I'm shooting a 60# BowTech Patriot Dually at 28" draw and I'm looking for some new arrow's and the 400 series is most suitable for our setup.
