I would talk to your forestry department. I know guys that have made money by letting the state plant trees on their property. Rather than having the local farmer farm the land for a piece of the profit, the state comes in a plants thousands of trees and pays you to leave it alone. I don't really know the details but that is the gist of what my buddy told me, who has done this.
Along these lines I would check into wether your Department of Natural Resources or what ever its called in your state has a program that can assist you in the planning to find what would be the best thing to do with your property for the deer and turkey population on your property.
Our DNR has programs that pay to leave areas such as CRP's, timbered etc.
Contacting your state DNR is where I would Start.

Personally, I would dig an acre pond. I'd also plant some corn rotated with beans in an acre plot near the pond. While this would only enhance Deer habitat slightly it would make it more of an outdoor wonderland. Stock the pond, watch and or hunt the ducks and geese that would frequent the property.

i would also plant a couple acres of biologic..but it sounds like you have that covered.

I do like the idea of planting "boundry" trees to prevent guys like me, from rubbernecking enviously from the roads.
