We are planning a "budget" bow-hunting trip for next fall - trophy potential area, but not necessarily record book bucks. If you don't mind sharing your state's public land potential, I would certainly appreciate it.
For example, here in Alabama we have excellent public opportunities with very liberal bag limits - but the "trophy" bucks will be in the 130-140 class. We have alot of deer, but they are not huge. Out-of-state licenses are reasonably priced and available otc. The weather in the fall is usally low 70s for the high, so you might have to contend with misquitos, depending on the area you hunt.
Thanks in advance for your input.

South western PA has some very good bucks (the average buck around here is probablly 100", with a big one being in the 130" range, and the huge bucks are in the 160-180 range!
There are lots of good spots for public land hunting, BUT, the problem is you would have to contend with the orange army! Guys line the State Game Lands and it looks like a war zone! Thank god I have private property that I hunt!

Well dont come to Southeastern Pa unless you want to meet a couple hundred hunters a day kicking the brush in their orange suits

I hunt private land for the most part, but I thought it would be a nice way (less expensive) to try and hunt some different territory.

Check out WV. The southwestern section of the state is closed to firearms. There are plenty of WMA's in the state, including a 23,000 acre wma in my backyard that gets little pressure during bow season. And best of all, non resident liscenses/tags are relatively cheap- under $150 I'm pretty sure.

We have quite a bit of public land in Minnesota but most of it gets hit pretty hard during the rifle season. Prior to that though you have plenty of spots where you won't see other hunters especially bow hunting in the state forest areas.
