If it won't fit in your hands or in your pocket you don't need it.
If it can't be fastened to a Summit Viper and held on by the straps that come with the stand you not only don't need it, you don't even want it.

I have a dwight schuh (sp?) bowhunter pack. Love it. I put it on and then by stand goes over the top. Te pack actually cushions the stand and is more comfortable to carry than just the stand alone, although a little heavier. I pack almost all my clothes in as I hate sweating (stinking then) on the way in and then freezing while sitting. I'd rather have too much stuff than not enough and uncomfortable.

Get a fanny pack with the vertical straps on it and attach it to the top of your stand. Much easier than wearing on your waist. I wear it on my waist as I climb the tree and then wrap it around the trunk when I get up there.

I used to strap my junk (ie, backpack, extra clothes, etc) to the oustide of my stand with bunjee cords. When I got my Summit Viper, I found an even easier way. After packing the top and bottom sections together, you then have to pull the back rest section back through the stand and strap it back to the top. This makes a convenient place to pack stuff. Just drop your junk between the back rest and the stand and then connect the little bunjees to the top as you already do. Sorry I don't have pictures, but Viper owners should know what I mean......

A slick thing to do is to buy one of the leg/hip packs from summitequipment.com. Straps around your waist like a regular fanny pack, but instead of having the main compartment hanging off your lower back, it has 2 bags/compartments, each one hangs off the side of your hips, alongside your outer legs. It has enough room to carry anything a bowhunter needs or wants, and doesn't interfere with a stand hanging on your back while walking to your spot.

I did the fanny pack thing, but outgrew it. I bought a nice lightweight daypack in RealTree Hardwoods from Dick's Sporting Goods. It's about the size of a kids' school bookbag/backpack that they use these days. It's nice and holds everything I need, including a spot for spare snacks/drinks. It easily clips/hooks on/bungies to the back of my Viper without any problems.
