Default Killed a doe

I have a freind that been giving me a hard time about killing a doe she field dressed 135 pound He said that I'm not a real hunter until I kill a big buck. I've passed on some small buck 4 and 6 pointers I've just haven't seen the big one in shooting range. oh he has not killed a deer this year with his bow.

If he is not just playing around with you, then I wouldnt think this guy was very much of a friend. My opinion anyway. Happy hunting.

Dont worry about it. Any deer killed with a bow is a trophy in my book. It took me many years of trying before I got my first. I killed a doe. That got my confidence up and killed a nice 8 point later that same year.

Hunting is not all about killin or bagging the biggest buck thats just a perk, its being out there away from it all.

We hunt because we enjoy it and for the MEAT!!! not for something just to hang on the wall. it all taste the same when it laying on the plate uuuummmm!!! it took me 6 years before i got my first deer with a bow!!! My own opinion is if you want something to hang on your wall and thats it!!! Go buy a picture !!!

Its just like any other sport, you have got to pay your dues before you achieve your goals. No shame in taking a doe, forget him.

Scottycar who ever told you that obviously isn't a hunter because any true sportsman shouldn't be acting like that. As far as im concerned your a hunter if you play by the rules and enjoy being out in the feild. I've been hunting since i was twelve and I shot bucks and doe's anything I put on the ground gives me a feeling of satisfaction. From my experience the memories of the hunt outlive the animals you kill.

"Real hunters" know that a 135 pound doe IS a trophy! "Real hunters" know that showing the discipline to pass on small four and six pointers is a sign of an accomplished hunter.

Congratulations!!! It sounds to me like this guy is suffering some insecurity issues in the hunting department, thus the reason for his needling.
